Wax

Clay is my first contact in the creative process. When I mold, nothing is defined or predetermined. I work my fingers into the clay all the while following its movement and the feel of its rough edges. Only then will I begin the transformation. I then mold small or fragments of objects, without a frame or underwiring, never knowing what this clay will become.

With the discovery of wax in 2006, a new approach to molding the body came into being. Instead of working the clay from the outside in, I do it inside out, adding layers as I go and fight against my primary instincts. The wax technique has largely dominated my production since 2008. I have also introduced this technique in the creation of my papiers mâchés.
